Order for judicial investigation in the case of soil cutting of agricultural land in Chittagong

The High Court has ordered a judicial inquiry to find out those responsible for cutting topsoil of agricultural land in Satkania, Chittagong. The Chief Judicial Magistrate of Chittagong has been asked to investigate and submit a report to the court within a month.

Justice Mustafa Zaman Islam and Justice Mohd. The High Court bench of Atabullah gave this order.

Apart from this, the topsoil of the agricultural lands of Satkania, which has been cut, has been asked to bring alluvium from outside and fill it up within 30 days and make it suitable for agriculture. Chittagong DC-SP has been asked to implement this order.

Cropland topsoil is being cut indiscriminately in Satkania of Chittagong. There is no way to stop the cutting of crop land. In the darkness of the night, whatever is possible, the soil of the crop land is cut by the excavator (digger) and delivered to the brickyard by the dumper (mini truck). In each area of the upazila, the festival of soil cutting is going on by syndicate.

A local resident named Abdul Munaf filed a writ in the High Court with the report published in the media. After hearing that writ, the High Court issued a ruling on March 19, prohibiting the cutting of topsoil. The court brought to the notice of the fact that the cutting of topsoil continued despite this order. Then on April 22, the court summoned the concerned online. Lawyer Ujjal Pal was in favor of the application in the court. Deputy Attorney General Tushar Kanti Roy appeared for the state.
