The Board of Trustees (BOT) of Bangladesh Islamic University may be dissolved due to financial irregularities and corruption. The chancellor and president of the university can form a new board consisting of academicians. This information is known from the sources of secondary and higher education department of the Ministry of Education.
A meeting was held at the Ministry of Education on Monday afternoon regarding the overall situation of the university. Under the chairmanship of Education Minister Barrister Mohibul Hasan Chowdhury, State Minister Shamsun Nahar, Secretary of Secondary and Higher Education Department, Chairman of UGC, representatives of Secretary of Public Security Department, representatives of DMP Commissioner, representatives of NSI, Cybercrime and Anti-Terrorism Unit participated in the meeting. Vice Chancellor, Treasurer and Registrar of Bangladesh Islamic University were also present in the meeting.
At the end of the meeting, no one who participated in the meeting agreed to give any official statement to the media. However, according to reliable sources, it will be recommended to the chancellor to dissolve the board of trustees of this university due to various irregularities, especially financial irregularities. The Ministry of Education will take action according to the decision given by the Chancellor.
Earlier, a five-member investigation team of UGC conducted a detailed investigation into the university and submitted its report to the Ministry of Education. The investigation of this committee revealed the terrible picture of financial looting in the university.
