Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said that the government has taken multifaceted measures to meet the demand for electricity.

He said this while attending the opening ceremony of the ’61st Convention of Bangladesh Engineers Institution’ at Ramna in the capital on Saturday (May 11) morning.

Sheikh Hasina said that development from the grassroots is the main goal of the Awami League government. Engineers have to focus on how to keep the development going, keeping in mind the limitations of resources. Apart from this, care should be taken to ensure that any project is cost-effective, environment-friendly and sustainable. We have to work towards creating our own market.

He said, how can we innovate energy, how can we keep the development going at low cost, how can we improve the communication system; The project should be taken with that in mind. The main goal of the Awami League government is to develop from the grass roots. Raising people’s per capita income from the grassroots. Increasing people’s purchasing power from the grass roots.

Sheikh Hasina said, along with the industrialization of the country, we have to create our own huge market and increase our purchasing power, and planning is undertaken keeping that in mind. Digital Bangladesh has already been done, now Smart Bangladesh will be done.

The main theme of this year’s convention is ‘Engineering and Technology for Smart Bangladesh’. The main attraction of this convention is the national seminar titled ‘The Engineers for Transforming Technology Driven Smart Bangladesh’. This is the 61st convention of Engineers Institution Bangladesh (IEB), the country’s oldest professional institution.
