On Monday (May 13), the highest temperature in the country was 37 degrees Celsius at Ishwardi in Pabna. The maximum temperature in Dhaka is 34 degrees Celsius. Starting from last March 31 till May 6, heatwave swept over the country for 37 consecutive days. At some places, the maximum temperature crossed 42 degrees Celsius and the heat wave became very intense. Almost all the people of the country suffered due to intense heat.

Most parts of the country were rainless from Sunday evening (May 12) to Monday evening. At this time, 20 millimeters of rain fell in Patuakhali, 1 in Hatia and 5 in Dhaka, said the Meteorological Department.

Meteorologist Md. Bajlur Rashid said, mild heat wave is flowing over Tangail, Rajshahi, Pabna, Jessore, Nilphamari, Rangamati and Feni districts on Monday and it may continue.

In the weather forecast for the next 24 hours from 6:00 PM on Monday, he said, there may be temporary gusts of wind or rain with thunder in one or two places in Rangpur, Rajshahi, Dhaka, Mymensingh, Khulna and Sylhet divisions. Elsewhere in the country, the weather will remain mainly dry with partly cloudy sky. During this time, day and night temperature may increase slightly across the country.

The Meteorological Department has predicted that the temperature will rise slightly on Tuesday and Wednesday as the heat wave spreads.

According to the Meteorological Department, a heat wave is defined as mild if the temperature is between 36 and 37.9 degrees Celsius over a wide area, moderate between 38 and 39.9 degrees Celsius, severe between 40 and 41.9 degrees Celsius and more than 42 degrees Celsius. .
