Temperatures have risen across the country as the rains have completely subsided

The ongoing mild heatwave over the country has spread over most of the districts, which may extend further. Temperatures have risen across the country as the rains have completely subsided. 42 districts of the country have been affected by heat.

According to the Meteorological Department, the scorching heat may continue on Wednesday. Low rainfall and rising temperatures may continue till next Saturday. Heat waves will also expand. However, from next Sunday, the temperature will start to decrease again with increasing rain.

On Tuesday, the highest temperature in the country rose to 38.4 degrees Celsius in Saidpur of Nilphamari. The maximum temperature in Dhaka was 35.3 degrees Celsius.

Bogra recorded the country’s highest rainfall of 16 mm in 24 hours till 6 pm on Tuesday. Apart from this, Mongla of Bagerhat received 1 mm of rain. There was no measurable rainfall anywhere else outside of this.

Omar Farooq, a meteorologist of the Meteorological Department, said that the trend of increasing temperature will continue till next Saturday. At this time, there may be mild to moderate heat waves in different parts of the country. From May 19, the rains will again increase and the temperature will start decreasing.

In the current summer season, the heat wave starts from April 1. Every day till May 6, heat wave swept over some part of the country. 37 consecutive days of heat wave is the biggest record in the history of the country. There was no heat wave anywhere for six days from May 7 to 12 as the rain gradually increased. However, since the rain has subsided, the temperature has risen again across the country since last Monday.

According to the May forecast, one to three mild or moderate heatwaves and 1 to 2 severe heatwaves may occur in some parts of the country. 1 or 2 low pressure may occur over Bay of Bengal. One of which may take the form of depression or cyclone in the second half of the month. Normal flow may prevail in rivers during this month. However, due to heavy rainfall upstream, water may rise above the boundary line at some places in northern and northeastern regions.
