Foreign Minister Dr. Hasan Mahmud said that US Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asia Donald Lu has come to Dhaka with the aim of developing relations with Bangladesh.
The foreign minister said these things after the meeting with Donald Lu on Wednesday afternoon. Lu came to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs at half past three that day. Then the meeting started at 3:30 pm.
Hasan Mahmud spoke to the journalists after the meeting. He said that there was no discussion on visa policy in the meeting. The ban on RAB was discussed. However, the Foreign Minister commented that it is a matter of long process.
Foreign Minister Hasan said that the United States wants to return GSP benefits. However, Donald Lu called for reforming the labor policy.
Before this, the Minister of Foreign Affairs. After the meeting with Hasan Mahmud, Donald Lu said that the United States had worked hard to hold free, fair and violence-free elections in Bangladesh. We want to look forward, not back. We want to find ways to strengthen our relationship. That's why I spoke to the minister. There are many important issues between our two countries. Such as ban on RAB, labor law reform, human rights and business environment reform. To strengthen this relationship, we need to increase cooperation in a positive way.
