The Meteorological Department has said that storms with a maximum speed of 60 km may occur over 10 districts of the country including Dhaka.
Meteorologist Md. in a forecast given for the country’s internal river ports until 1 pm on Sunday (19 May). Omar Farooq said these things in the signed notification.
It is said that gusty or stormy wind may blow temporarily from West or North-West direction over Dhaka, Faridpur, Khulna, Comilla, Barisal, Patuakhali, Noakhali, Chittagong, Cox’s Bazar and Sylhet districts at a speed of 45 to 60 km per hour. Rain or thundershowers may also occur.
Therefore, the river ports of these areas have been asked to show warning signal number 1.
The notification also said that the western depression is extending from West Bengal to North West Bay of Bengal.
In this situation, some places of Dhaka, Khulna, Barisal, Chittagong and Sylhet divisions and a couple of places of Rajshahi, Rangpur and Mymensingh divisions may experience rain or thundershowers with gusty or windy winds.
Along with this, there may be scattered hailstorms at some places. According to the Meteorological Office, this trend of stormy rain in different parts of the country may continue till May 28.
