The outgoing ambassador of the country in Dhaka, Aung Keo Mo, believes that the ongoing armed conflict between the conflicting groups inside Myanmar and the army of that country has created an obstacle to the repatriation of the Rohingya. However, he mentioned that his country will make more efforts to solve the Rohingya crisis.
The Ambassador of Myanmar said this during the farewell meeting with Foreign Minister Hasan Mahmud at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Sunday.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a press release in the evening that the outgoing ambassador of Myanmar met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs this afternoon. At that time, Hasan Mahmud mentioned that the only solution to the ongoing situation is the repatriation of the Rohingyas to Myanmar with full citizenship rights. He told the ambassador that in the bilateral meeting in Uganda this year, the Foreign Minister of Myanmar expressed his opinion that he wants to start the return of Rohingya. Myanmar can sign their goodwill by at least starting the repatriation process.
Ambassador Aung Kyaw Moe cited the ongoing armed conflict between Myanmar’s army and rival groups as an obstacle in this regard. However, he also assured that his country will make more efforts in this regard.
Apart from the Rohingya crisis, the meeting also discussed various issues of bilateral relations including trade growth.
