On the occasion of Eid-ul-Azha, bulkhead traffic will be closed for 11 days from June 13 to 23 to ensure the safety of the navigable route. As before, the number of ferries to Kazirhat, Paturiaghat will be increased. The number of launches will also be increased on some routes. The crossing of normal trucks and covered van ferries will be closed except for trucks carrying animals and perishable goods for the three days before Eid and the next three days for seven days.

On the occasion of the upcoming holy Eid-ul-Azha-2024, these decisions were taken in a meeting on Thursday (May 22) at the Ministry of Shipping regarding the smooth movement of watercraft including ferries, steamers, launches and safety of passengers. State Minister for Shipping Khalid Mahmud Chowdhury presided over the meeting.

The state minister said that last time (Eid-ul-Fitr) the Eid journey was safe. All the passengers managed to return home safely. Happy Eid with family. Measures have been taken to make the journey safe this time as well. Everyone is working together to ensure the safe transportation of sacrificial animals by sea along with passengers.

He said that the government is sincere in passenger service. There are some people who are anti-national and anti-law even in the field of waterways. They want to create chaos and tarnish the image of the government or our institutions. We have recommended increased intelligence surveillance.

The Meteorological Office has informed that the weather is hazardous during this Eid season. Those carrying passengers and goods shall observe the weather messages properly.
