The deep depression over west-central Bay of Bengal and adjoining areas is currently located 565 km southwest of Chittagong seaport. Due to this, torrential rain has started in Chittagong since 1:30 PM.

Meanwhile, the Bay of Bengal is turbulent under the influence of low pressure.

In Bangladesh Meteorological Department’s emergency notification number 6, Chittagong, Cox’s Bazar, Mongla and Payra seaports have been asked to display remote warning signal number 1.

Patenga Meteorological Office forecaster Nurul Karim told the media that the rain has started under the influence of deep depression. The situation will change rapidly from now on. The depression may develop into a cyclonic storm by afternoon. In the next 24 hours, rain will continue along with wind. He further said that maximum sustained wind speed within 48 km of the low pressure center is 50 km per hour, increasing to 60 km per hour in the form of gusty or gusty winds. The sea is rough under the influence of low pressure. On the other hand, the city dwellers are suffering from strong winds and rains after intense heat.

Labani Hafiz, a resident of Andarkilla in the city and working in a private development agency, said that due to the heavy rains, there were no vehicles on the road. CNG autorickshaws charge extra.
