After nearly four months, Hamas, the ruling group of the Palestinian Gaza Strip, launched a rocket attack on Tel Aviv, the commercial center of Israel. The Israeli military announced this information on Sunday.

Israel’s military said Hamas fired at least eight rockets at Tel Aviv from Gaza’s Rafah area. Several of these rockets have been intercepted. No one was injured in the attack.

Meanwhile, the Qassam Brigades, the military wing of Hamas, said in a post on Telegram that their fighters fired several rockets at Tel Aviv in protest of the Israeli genocide.

An AFP correspondent in Gaza saw rockets being fired from Rafah. Meanwhile, another representative of AFP in Tel Aviv said that he heard at least three explosions there.

Hamas launched a rocket attack on Israel’s Tel Aviv a few days after the Israeli army launched a ground operation in Gaza’s Rafah, ignoring the concerns and calls of the international community.

On October 7, Hamas launched an unprecedented attack in the southern part of Israel. More than 1,100 people were killed in the attack. Hamas fighters took 252 hostages to Gaza during the attack.

Israel then launched a counter-attack on Gaza. At least 35,984 Palestinians have been killed and more than 80,000 wounded in Gaza by Israeli forces for more than seven months.
