2 crore 35 lakh consumers without power due to cyclone Rimal

Due to the impact of Cyclone Rimal in the Bay of Bengal, electricity supply to more than 2 crore 35 lakh customers in different areas of the country has been stopped. Power supply has been cut off in many areas due to fallen trees and broken lines. Besides, electricity supply has been shut off in many areas to avoid accidents. Mobile phone networks are down in many areas due to lack of electricity.

Bangladesh Rural Electrification Board Member (Management and Distribution) Debashish Chakraborty confirmed this information to Jago News on Monday (May 27) afternoon.

Debashish Chakraborty said that 2 crore 35 lakh customers across the country are currently without electricity. As the rain does not stop, our teams have to rush to work.

When asked when it will be possible to reconnect the customers, he said, it is not possible to say at the moment. Our team will work 24 hours all over the country
