On the occasion of Eid-ul-Azha, two city corporations have decided to set up 19 sacrificial animal markets at different places in the capital. Meanwhile, the High Court has given a stay order to Aftabnagar Hat despite the request of two cities.

In the meantime, the leasing process of 12 huts including two permanent ones has been completed. Apart from this, the authorities said that the sacrificial animals will be sold through e-haat.

Mayor of DSCC Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh said that several haat leases have already been allotted. The process of allotment of the rest is going on. Apart from this, maximum efforts will be made to remove the waste of the market as soon as possible.

DNCC Mayor Atiqul Islam said that every year a lot of animals are being sold in Qorbani through e-haat. This time also this response will be massive.

Cattle market of Dhaka North City Corporation

Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) permanent Cattle Hut Gabtali, vacant land in Kaola Sealdanga area, vacant land adjacent to Bhatara Sutivola canal, Uttara Diabari Ward No. 16 and 18, Aftabnagar (there is a stay order on the establishment of the market till now), vacant land in Mirpur Eastern Housing, Uttara Hat, Mohammadpur Bachila will sit in the empty space of Dhaka Polytechnic area. The lease of six huts has already expired.

Animal market of South City Corporation of Dhaka

Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) permanent animal market at Sarulia. Apart from this, there are ten more huts. North Shahjahanpur, vacant lot adjacent to Leather Technology College, vacant lot adjacent to Postgola Crematorium, Dania College Ground Jatrabari, Meradia Bazaar area, Kamalapur Stadium area, Dholaikhal Truck Terminal area, Rahmatganj Club adjacent area Lalbagh, Amulia Model Town, Shyampur Kadamtoli Truck Stand. Dakshin has also leased six so far.

The official buying and selling of animals will start from five days before Eid and will continue till the second day of Eid. The city fathers have warned to take strict action against the tenants if the haat waste is not removed in the stipulated time.

However, even though both the cities have leased the Aftabnagar haat, the High Court has given a stay order for the haat to be set up there in view of a writ by the locals.
