Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal said that 4,407 animal markets will be held across the country during the holy Eid-ul-Azha. He said this at the end of the Eid-ul-Azha preparation meeting at the Secretariat on Tuesday (May 28).

The minister said, ‘Eidul Azha is probably going to be on June 17. Every year we can keep the people of the country safe on national days including Eid, Puja, and at the same time so that the festivals are held in a joyful atmosphere so that everyone can participate in this meeting today.

Regarding animal markets, he said, according to the information received, we have the information of a total of 4,407 animal markets across the country, including city corporations and metropolitan districts. It may even increase. Temporary police camps will be set up at each animal market. The market will have watch-tower, counterfeit detection machine, vet. Police-RAB as well as intelligence officers in plain clothes will be present at the animal market.

You know it is Eid-ul-Azha, that is why there will be an excess of livestock vehicles. Therefore they will be instructed to always use the left side lane of the road. They should not come in the road or even go to the right.

The minister said, ‘The name of their destination or the market they will go to in the cattle car should be written in front of the car. The purpose of this is that no one can force animals from the car on the road. At the same time, so that no one can extort money. Besides, they can’t bring down any animal in the animal market on the road, they can’t stand on the road. There is a designated place for them, there they will bring down the animals.’

Highlighting the decision of the meeting, the Home Minister further said that the highway police will work in coordination with the district police to decongest the roads and highways and urban areas during the holy Eid pilgrimage. I also used drones last time to clear traffic jams at important public places. This time again I will use drones to solve the traffic jam. Modern technology is being gradually increased to alleviate traffic congestion along with the increase of CCTV cameras on highways.

He said that measures will be taken to identify the cause of traffic congestion in areas prone to traffic jams and measures will be taken, he said, police will use speed guns to control excessive speed of vehicles on the highway to prevent accidents. Legal action will be taken immediately against speeding vehicles.

Regarding the car rental for the Eid journey, the Home Minister said that it will remain the same as it was last Eid, and the rental will not be increased. It is owned by representatives of transport workers.

All other types of transport will be closed except perishable goods and passenger transport for three days before Eid-ul-Azha and the next three days, the minister said. At the same time, it has been decided to give the bonus before the Eid holiday. The presidents of BGMEA and BKMEA all agree on this.

Various organizations will arrange holidays in phases in coordination with the government holidays. So that there is no problem of traffic jam. Security measures will be taken in the industrial area. Action will be taken against those who create or attempt to create discontent by unduly rumours, incitement.

Security arrangements will be in place at major and important Eid congregations across the country, including the National Eidgah Maidan and Sholakia Ground. Asaduzzaman also said that railways will launch special cattle trains for the transportation of cattle in the eastern and western regions.

Home Minister also said that no bulkhead, passenger speedboat, small launch will be able to move at night.
