A severe heat wave is sweeping across large parts of North and Central India. On Tuesday (May 28), Churu in Rajasthan and Sirsa in Haryana, the mercury crossed 50 degrees Celsius. Moreover, the temperature in Delhi is several times higher than normal.

At least three weather stations in Delhi recorded a maximum temperature of 49 degrees Celsius or more.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) said that Mungeshpur and Narela in Delhi recorded 49.9 degrees Celsius and Najafgarh 49.8 degrees Celsius.

This is the first time that the highest temperature has been recorded in Delhi, the capital of India, this season.

IMD said, relief from this ongoing heat wave may come after May 30.

Also on Tuesday (May 28), the Pakistan Meteorological Office said the temperature in the southern province of Sindh exceeded 52 degrees Celsius, the highest this summer and close to the country’s all-time record.

Last month, severe heat waves were observed across Asia. According to a group of international researchers, this situation is mainly due to climate change.
