The strong current of flood water hit the settlement directly. Half of the houses along with the plants were washed away in the canal. Then the water rises. The house collapsed under that pressure. A small portion of Vita is fine. But there is no way to stay there. So the whole family had to settle elsewhere. Mujibur Rahman (61) was a victim of such helplessness in the flood. His house is in Jalalpur village of Mannargaon union of Doarabazar upazila of Sunamganj.

On the night of June 17, water entered Mujibur Rahman's house. Water and water all around. Later the local people took a boat and rescued them. Then they took shelter in a relative's house. It was said that when the water recedes, he will return home with everyone. But they never returned to this house. Actually there is no way back. Houses have been destroyed by floods. Not only the house, but also his house was lost in the flood.

Mujibur Rahman told the media, "I lost everything in the flood. There is a little more space on the side of the road. But stay away from building a house, it is not possible to dig a pole and give it soil. Family of nine including wife, three sons, two daughters. The elder son is mentally unbalanced. He also runs a household in Tenetun. Now he is at a relative's house with his family. He is confused about how to build a house.

Like Mujibur, the houses of many others were damaged in the flood. Some partially, some completely destroyed. The poor people of Haorpar cannot afford to rebuild or renovate these damaged houses.

Mujibur Rahman's house on the right side before going to Katakhali Bazar on Sunamganj-Doarabazar road. He lived here 15 years ago. In 2020, he built a tin house with seasoned poles. The house is about 200 feet from the road. Road to the north of the house, Haor to the south. Under a small bridge on the road, the water of the Surma river passes through the canal into the Howrah. Mujibur's house on the bank of this canal.

Went there on Friday afternoon and saw that the bamboo and tin of the house are almost mixed with the ground. People in the house were trying to remove them. Most of the houses have disappeared into the canal. It is not the case that a new house will be built here.

Former chairman of Mannargaon Union Parishad (UP) Abu Hena Aziz said, "Mujibu's family is in great danger." The flood has brought down the road. It is not possible for him to build a house without government support.

The houses of Rafiq Ali (50) and Aklish Ali (60) of Lamagaon village in the same area, Aflatun Begum (45) of Ulukandi village were also damaged by the flood. They say that Haor waves cause more damage to the house. If there is a gusty wind, the waves are more. The wave breaks the fence of the house.

Rafiq Ali said, "We spend the day fishing in Hawar during the monsoons. Now the fish are not as good as before. I am in great trouble. Meanwhile, the flood is breaking the fence of the house. Children are afraid of rye. Khaitam parram na, fix the house kila.'

Deputy Commissioner of Sunamganj Mohammad Rashed Iqbal Chowdhury said that the flood water is receding. People are returning home from shelters. Instructions have been given to prepare a list of locally affected houses. The affected people will get assistance if allocated.
