The water level of Yamuna river is rising due to the heavy rains of the last few days and the hill slopes coming down from the upstream. This has worsened the flood situation in 8 Unions of Jamalpur Islampur. In addition to the flooding of 70 villages in this area, more than three hundred houses have been lost under the river.

It is known that in the last 24 hours, water is flowing 79 cm above the danger level at Bahadurabad ghat point of Yamuna river. As a result, 70 villages of Kulkandi, Belgacha, Chinaduli, Sapdhari, Noarpara, Islampur Sadar, Partshi and Palbandha unions of the upazila have been flooded.

In addition, in a few days, more than 300 houses have been destroyed by the Yamuna river. Agricultural land, educational institutions and various facilities are facing erosion.

It has been seen on the surface that the river water is rising in Mannia, Sindurtali, Shildah, Chengania of Sapdhari union, Mandalpara, Kansari Doba, Akandpara, Jigatla of Kulkandi union, Berkusha, Toga of Noarpara union, Hargila, Nandan Par, Dewanpara and Shingbhanga areas of Chinaduli union. appeared Crop lands, educational institutions and various structures are in danger of being submerged under the river.

Belgacha UP Chairman Abdul Malek said that those whose houses were destroyed by the river are now spending their days under the open sky. Already, 6 tons of rice has been allocated by the administration and relief by the Prime Minister.

Upazila Nirbahi Officer Sirajul Islam said that the affected families are being inquired about. Allocation has already been given for them.
