Two youths named Sajal (18) and Tanmoy (19) died when their boat sank while going out with their friends in Shahjadpur of Sirajganj. The accident took place at Reshambari area of ​​Potazia Union of the upazila around 12:30 noon on Saturday.

Deceased Tanmoy is the son of Shah Alam of Dariyapur Mohalla of Shahjadpur Town and Sajal is the son of Tauhid Ali of the same Mohalla. Nothing more was immediately known about them.

Talking to the police and eyewitnesses, it is known that the low lying areas of Shahjadpur upazila are now covered in water due to the heavy rains of the last few days and the floods coming down from the upstream. Today at noon in Reshambari area of ​​Potazia Union of Upazila nine friends along with Sajal, Tanmoy hired a boat and went out for sightseeing. On the way, the boat suddenly sank in Jagurdola area. At this time, Sajal and Tanmoy drowned in the water and disappeared. Others swam ashore. After searching for a long hour, the two were rescued in a frozen state and rushed to the hospital. At that time, the hospital doctor declared them dead.

Shahjadpur Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Sabuj Rana confirmed the incident and told the media that the bodies were handed over to the two families without post-mortem in view of the request of the relatives. No complaint was made by the family. If complaints are received, legal action will be taken after investigation.
