Students of Dhaka College are protesting in the science lab. They are chanting slogans like ‘Sara Banglaye Khabar, bury the quota system’, ‘Let the quota system die, let the talented be freed’, ‘Let the tools of the Eighteen roar once more’.

Nazmul Hasan, a student of Dhaka College, said that before this, they had held various programs as part of the anti-quota movement, including standing at the main gate of Dhaka College for four consecutive days. He also said that their demand is to cancel the quota. Because, discrimination is created through quota.

The ‘Bangla Blockade’ program of the anti-quota activists is scheduled to begin in front of Dhaka University Library under the banner of ‘Anti-discrimination Student Movement’ around 3 pm.

According to the ‘Bangla Blockade’ programme, students of universities and colleges will sit on the road at every point including Shahbag Mor, Science Lab, Chankharpool, Neelkhet, Motijheel in the capital Dhaka. Students will block the highways at the district and university levels outside Dhaka. The students have been protesting since the verdict of canceling the quota circular on June 5. A continuous movement has been going on since July 1. The protestors demand that the quota system should be canceled in 2018 and the circular issued by the government should be reinstated.

Apart from this, the agitators have been demanding that if they want to take any action on the quota system, they will have to form a commission subject to the previous circular being upheld. They say, through this commission, unreasonable and discriminatory quotas in all grades in government jobs should be removed as soon as possible.
