Seven days after two school students went missing after their boat capsized in Chingri Jhiri area adjacent to Padma Canal in Tindu Union in Thanchi, Bandarban, the body of one was found, locals and police said.
On Monday (08 July) in the afternoon, the police recovered an unidentified body in Shilajiridi Mukha area adjacent to Sangu River under Krangkhyong Para of Thanchi Bolipara Union.
According to local sources, some women from the Krangkhyang neighborhood went to Shilajiridi Mukh area to catch snails and fish and found an unidentified body lying there. If they immediately inform the people, the residents of the neighborhood should first inform the police about the matter. And the two missing school students also informed the parents. Later, the police recovered the body with the help of local people.
It is also known that among the two missing students, the relatives have been able to identify Shantirani Tripura (11) as one of the two school students who went missing in the Sangu river after the boat sank on the 1st.
Augustin Tripura, head teacher of Enye Timong Para Government Primary School, said that after receiving information about the search for unidentified bodies, he went to the scene and found the body of Shantirani Tripura (11), one of the two school students who went missing in the Sangu river on the 1st. I can confirm that the body is Shantirani Tripura.
Thanchi Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md. Jasim Uddin said that an investigation team was immediately sent to the spot after receiving information about the discovery of an unidentified body. However, we initially learned that the body of one of the two missing school students who drowned in a boat in the Sangu river.
It is to be noted that on July 1, two school students went missing after a boat sank in Chingri Jhiri area near Padma Canal. They are Phulbani Tripura (10) daughter of Harish Chandra Para Nilapru Tripura of Ward No. 5 of Tindu Union. The other is Mutijan Tripura's daughter Shantrirani Tripura (11) and they live in the same neighbourhood. Phulbani Tripura is a 5th standard student of Timong Para Government Primary School. The other Shantirani was a 3rd class student of Tripura Hanarang Para Government Primary School.
