According to the agency, Rangpur, Mymensingh, Chittagong and Sylhet divisions may experience heavy rain on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. At this time, there may be light to moderate rain in the rest of the four divisions of the country.

This information has been given in the weather forecast for the next 72 hours from Tuesday (July 9) at 9:00 am. The forecast says that from Tuesday to Thursday, many places in Rangpur, Mymensingh, Chittagong and Sylhet divisions of the country and two each in Dhaka, Rajshahi, Khulna and Barisal divisions. There may be light to moderate rain or thundershowers with gusty winds at places. Along with that, there may be moderate to heavy rains at some places in Rangpur, Mymensingh, Chittagong and Sylhet divisions. During this time, the day and night temperatures may drop slightly across the country, the Meteorological Office said.

Meteorologist Manowar Hossain said that the activity of monsoon in the country is moderate. Light to moderate rain may occur at a few places in Dhaka, Rajshahi, Khulna and Barisal divisions as Monsoon is less active in the central region.

He also said that the trend of rainfall may increase towards next week. It is known that the axis of monsoon winds extends through Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, West Bengal and central Bangladesh to Assam. An extension of it extends to the northern Bay of Bengal. Monsoon is fairly active over Bangladesh and moderate over North Bay of Bengal. Meanwhile, Tentulia in Panchagarh has received maximum rainfall of 148 mm in the last 24 hours from Monday morning to Tuesday morning. The highest temperature was 36.8 degrees Celsius in Rajshahi. Rajshahi and Barisal divisions were rainless on this day.
