The court rejected the appeal of Laila Kaniz Laki, the first wife of former National Board of Revenue (NBR) member Matiur Rahman and Chairman of Raipura Upazila Parishad of Narsingdi seeking the withdrawal of the ban on foreign travel.

As Laila Kaniz was not present at the hearing on Sunday, Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions Judge Mohammad Assam Jaglul Hossain’s court gave this order.

In this regard, ACC Public Prosecutor (PP) Abdus Salam Himel said that Sunday was the day of hearing. However, the applicant Laila Kaniz did not appear in the court.

For this, the court rejected the application without hearing. There is no possibility of hearing on this application later.

On June 24, following an ACC application, the court banned Matiur Rahman, wife Laila Kaniz and son Ahmed Taufiqur Rahman Arnab from traveling abroad.

Later, on June 30, Laila Kaniz appealed to the court of Dhakalai Metropolitan Sessions Judge Mohammad Assam Jaghlul Hossain to revoke the ban on foreign travel. The court fixed July 28 for hearing the matter.
