The general students of Tejgaon College have given a two-day ultimatum demanding the resignation of Haroon-or-Rashid, the principal of the National University-affiliated Tejgaon College, and all the teachers who are directly connected with the fallen fascist government and who fueled the brutal attacks on the general students, including the governing.
On Wednesday (August 14) at 2 o’clock in the afternoon, they protested in the presence of other teachers in the auditorium of the campus citing 3 points of demand.
The students said that no student from Tejgaon College was allowed to play a role in the quota reform movement. Common students have been attacked and harassed with various threats and threats by gangs of Bangladesh Student League(BSL). Even for joining the movement in various ways, many have been attacked, some have broken arms and some have rubber bullet marks on their bodies. The college principal did not inquire about any of the students. He even had a lot of hatred for the logical movement of the students. He is directly involved in Awami League politics; That is, he is still in office as the General Secretary of Sarishabari Upazila Awami League of Jamalpur District. Due to which no one was found injured in this logical movement of the students. As a principal, how could he be complicit in inciting and attacking students? There are many agents of the fallen fascist government Awami League in our campuses, who want to implement the agenda of that dictatorship. Students are now involved in reforming the state, and campuses are no exception. Therefore, all the teachers of the fallen fascist government, including the principal, must resign. Even if the principal does not come to the college and resign voluntarily within the next two working days, he will be declared undesirable.
The common students of Tejgaon College said that it is incomprehensible how a college principal can be directly involved in politics under any law. He directly worked as a patron of the “Bangladesh Student League”. When the leaders and activists of other student organizations or ordinary students were beaten up in the campus, the principal did not protest but instead sang the praises of “Bangladesh Student League”. He gave all kinds of facilities to the leaders and workers of “Bangladesh Student League”.
In addition, general students also said that, at the same time, there is disagreement among student teachers, new appointment and impartial, non-partisan, qualified teachers should be appointed as principals, vice-principals and department-wise chairmen after verification by student-teachers. All forms of politics should be banned in the campus and student council should be formed. A Principal and Divisional Chairman cannot hold the post for more than 3 years.
It is to be noted that on August 12, the vice-principal of Tejgaon College, Anjuman Ara Begum, was forced to resign after being attacked by ordinary students.
