BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said, “The war is not over.” Having defeated one fascism, we must be vigilant so that no new fascism can come.’

This was said by the party’s general secretary Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir at a doa mahfil organized on the occasion of the party’s chairperson Khaleda Zia’s birthday on the ground floor of the BNP’s central office in Nayapaltan in the capital today.

BNP Secretary General said at the prayer ceremony that chairperson Khaleda Zia will be sent abroad for treatment soon. Fakhrul asks everyone to pray for Khaleda Zia to recover quickly and return to the country.

The general secretary of BNP questioned the low attendance of the leaders and workers at the prayer program for Khaleda Zia today and the sit-in program in Nayapaltan demanding justice for the massacre of Sheikh Hasina’s government on Thursday. He said, ‘Why are there less people, the war is over?’ When everyone said ‘No’, Mirza Fakhrul said, ‘This war must be continued, this struggle must be continued. If not, we will be in a lot of danger.

Mirza Fakhrul said, ‘This government is a new government, an interim government. They will choose. But a lot of mess. They need time to clean up this mess. We will continue to work in that way, we must continue the struggle.

Urging everyone to continue the struggle with patience, tolerance and discipline, this BNP leader further said, ‘If you think that the struggle is over, then you are wrong. The country is still very much in a state of flux. At any moment, the conspirator Sheikh Hasina can seize that opportunity, the conspiracy has started. The BNP Secretary General commented that the sectarianism and torture of minorities are part of that conspiracy. He directed the leaders and workers in their respective areas to create ‘Peace Brigade’ for maintaining peace and order and security of minorities.

Mirza Fakhrul said, “The image created by martyred President Ziaur Rahman, National Leader Begum Khaleda Zia and Acting Chairman Tariq Rahman of BNP should be kept intact and we should move forward.”

Leaders and workers from different levels of BNP central and Dhaka metropolis were present at the prayer ceremony.
