Brahmanbaria: Distinguished journalist and cultural figure Gouranga Debnath Apu was once again honored with an award, this time for his role as a 'Master of Ceremonies'. During a ceremony celebrating the 8th anniversary of the youth organization 'Ankura', held at the District Shilpakala Academy auditorium in Brahmanbaria, Apu was recognized with a commemorative plaque for his outstanding skills in hosting.
The event was graced by Saiful Islam, the Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) of Brahmanbaria, who presented the award to Apu as the chief guest. Six other notable individuals were also awarded across various categories, such as literature, music, and organizational contributions. Among these honorees were University of Brahmanbaria guest professor Manabardhan Pal for literature, renowned sitar and flute musician Sanjit Kumar Roy, and singer Raunak Jahan Raisha.
Each awardee received a certificate and a cash prize of 5,000 Taka. Special recognition was also given to Ankura’s advisors Advocate Mohammad Zakaria, Vice President Arup Roy Apu, and Helal Uddin of Jugantor, for their exceptional contributions as organizers.
The event was presided over by Ankura founder president Anisul Haque Ripon, with Saiful Islam as the chief guest. Additional Police Superintendent (Crime) Zainal Abedin, writer-researcher and former Joint Secretary Shah Sanaul Haque, Brahmanbaria Bar Association President Advocate AKM Kamruzzaman Mamun, Brahmanbaria Press Club President Javed Rahim Bijon, Channel i’s popular singer Syed Ashikur Rahman Ashik, and social worker poet Dewan Maruf were present as special guests.
Invited guests were each given a commemorative plaque, and a cultural program followed the formal recognition ceremony, offering a vibrant closing to the event. The entire evening was hosted by senior journalist and cultural personality Gouranga Debnath Apu, showcasing his well-known eloquence and charm in anchoring.
The organizers noted that Gouranga Debnath Apu, with nearly three decades in journalism, is deeply engaged in cultural activities as well. Apart from journalism, he has made a mark as an eloquent host, skilled in recitation, and a talented stage actor. He also heads the news portal "Nabinagarer Kotha," where he has been hosting a popular bi-weekly live talk show on Facebook for nearly four years. His enthusiastic hosting style has made the show widely appreciated, with over 315 episodes broadcasted to date, featuring eminent personalities from diverse fields.
Following his recognition, Apu expressed deep gratitude towards Ankura’s founder and president, Anisul Haque Ripon, for the honor. Ripon, the celebrated host of Ankura’s Facebook Live, praised Apu, saying, “Gouranga Debnath Apu is not only an esteemed journalist in our district but also a highly talented and articulate host. He held everyone’s attention for a full four hours during the event, delivering a flawless presentation. This honor reflects our appreciation of his exceptional capabilities.”
He added that Ankura feels privileged to have recognized a truly deserving and experienced individual in the field of hosting.
