Government Renames Six Notable Medical Colleges

The government has renamed six medical colleges in the country, adopting district-based names rather than individual names. This decision was formalized through a notification signed by Dr. Md. Sarwar Bari, Secretary of the Health Education and Family Welfare Division (Medical Education-1), under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, released on Wednesday. The notice states that this order takes immediate effect.

 

The medical colleges that underwent renaming include Colonel Malek Medical College in Manikganj, Abdul Malek Ukil Medical College in Noakhali, Sheikh Hasina Medical College in Jamalpur, Sheikh Hasina Medical College in Tangail, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical College in Faridpur, and M. Abdur Rahim Medical College in Dinajpur, which will now bear the names of their respective districts.
