The upcoming holy Eid-ul-Fitr, Bengali New Year and weekend are going to be a long holiday. In this situation, the Department of Health has issued 12-point instructions to the employees of the hospitals to ensure emergency healthcare.

It is said that this year there is a possibility of a long holiday due to Shaba Qadr, Eid-ul-Fitr, Bengali New Year (Pahela Baisakh) and weekends. The following guidelines have been issued for the management of medical services in hospitals during this holiday period.

 

The instructions are that – to ensure adequate manpower and medical services at holiday workplaces, leave may be given to manpower in phases before and after Eid.

The head of the institution shall grant the leave by prioritizing uninterrupted emergency medical operations and public interest.

 

Organizations can coordinate the necessary manpower within their district only during the Eid holidays by informing the Civil Surgeon, Divisional Director.

Full-time presence of doctors in the emergency department should be ensured.

 

Emergency department and labor room, emergency OT should be open round the clock.

 

Heads of units in internal departments will supervise the work on a day to day basis. Medical college hospitals, specialized hospitals, district headquarters hospitals and upazila health complexes should keep emergency labs and X-ray services open round the clock.

Sufficient medicines, IV fluid chemical reagents, surgical materials should be stocked and immediately supplied for the vacation period before the vacation starts. In this case, the store keeper or staff in charge during vacation must stay in their own district and upazila. Ambulance service should be kept open round the clock.

 

The local administration and law enforcement agencies should be notified in advance for hospital security during the holiday period.

 

Heads of organizations and heads of various departments should regularly communicate with the officers and employees providing services during holidays and exchange skills on the day of Eid.

 

If the head of the organization takes leave, he must assign the responsibility to someone according to the rules and the employee who takes the responsibility will perform all the duties properly. The name and mobile number of the responsible person should be informed to the higher authorities.

 

The head of the institution will supervise the serving of quality food to the patients on the day of Eid and exchange greetings with the patients.

 

The order mentions that this directive has the approval of the Director General of the Department of Health.
