The cabinet committee on law and order recommended extending the Eid holiday by one day to ensure smooth Eid journey, but the cabinet rejected it. As a result, there are three days of Eid holiday. All government offices are open on April 9.

This decision was taken in the cabinet meeting held at the Prime Minister’s office on Monday morning. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina presided over the meeting.

Minister for Liberation War and Chairman of the Cabinet Committee on Law and Order AKM Mozammel Haque confirmed this information.

He said that the Cabinet did not approve the recommendations of the Cabinet Committee on Law and Order.

Eid-ul-Fitr, the biggest religious festival of Muslims, will be celebrated in the country on April 10 or 11, depending on the sighting of the moon. The government has fixed Eid holidays on April 10, 11 and 12, assuming that Ramadan will be 30 days and Eid-ul-Fitr will be on April 11.

Before this, there is a holiday of Shab Qadr on April 7. The office will be open on April 8 and 9 after the Shabae Kadar holiday.

The Cabinet said that many days of leave are already available. In between, if the holiday is given on April 9, it will be extended further. This can lead to stagnation in work.
