The body of a young man was found tied to an electric wire on the side of the road in Chandib, Bhairab town of Kishoreganj. Pedestrians found the body on Sunday morning. Later the body was recovered.

The name of the youth whose body was recovered is Saidur Mia (18). He is the son of Mia of the late Bachir of Uttarpara, Chandib. Local people believe that Saidur died of electrocution while stealing electric cables.

According to the police quoting the locals, there has been an increase in the theft of electric cables in Bhairab recently. Every night there are incidents of him stealing from multiple houses. A meter wire was cut near Saidur’s body. The cut part of the wire was wrapped around Saidur’s body. Parts used for power transmission line repair work including plasma were lying next to it.

Sub-Inspector (SI) of Bhairab police station Masud Rana went to the spot after receiving the information. He said Saidur was entangled in electric wires. It was initially confirmed that he died of electrocution. The body was recovered and kept in the police station. The process of sending the body to the hospital morgue for autopsy is underway.
