Secondary school is opening today on Saturday, primary school is opening on Sunday

Secondary schools, colleges, madrasas and technical institutes are opening from Saturday (May 4). And the primary school is opening from Sunday.

This information was informed on Thursday by the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Primary and Mass Education.

Public relations officer of the Ministry of Education. Abul Khair told the media on Thursday that direct teaching will start in the classrooms at the secondary level from Saturday.

And Primary and Mass Education Secretary Farid Ahmed also said that schools are closed till Thursday. After Friday and Saturday weekend, classes are starting as usual from Sunday.

Before this, due to Ramadan, Eid-ul-Fitr and a week off due to heat, the country’s educational institutions opened last Sunday after a total of 1 month and 3 days. Secondary schools, colleges and madrasas will be closed again from Monday after leaving one day open. Primary schools open on Mondays. But following the instructions of the High Court due to severe heat wave, educational institutions of both levels were declared closed from Tuesday to Thursday.

Earlier, the Ministry of Education informed that secondary level classes will be open from May 4 on Saturday to meet the educational deficit.

Incidentally, on March 26, vacations began in all secondary schools of the country. Colleges were closed a day earlier on March 25. And vacations in primary schools and madrasas began on March 22.

Schools and colleges were supposed to open after the Eid and New Year holidays on April 21. But due to the continuous heat wave since the beginning of April, the temperature exceeded 42 degrees in some districts, and the government announced a holiday in schools and colleges till April 27.

Those concerned say that the current temperature is not the highest temperature in Bangladesh. Moreover, the current temperature in all regions of Bangladesh is not the same. Therefore, all kinds of preparations have been made to open educational institutions from Sunday.

Meanwhile, the classes of colleges affiliated to the National University were also closed due to intense protests. It was also informed that the classes in the affiliated colleges of the National University will remain closed until the next date is announced. That decision still stands. Besides, Dhaka University (DU) has decided to take classes online due to the intense heat. That decision still stands. However, amid intense protests on Thursday, the Jagannath University administration has decided to hold all classes online until further notice. Besides, all kinds of examinations have also been stopped. The Bangladesh Meteorological Department has issued a 72-hour warning or ‘heat alert’ due to the heatwave across the country on Thursday. The 72-hour ‘heat alert’ will end on Sunday (April 28) morning.
