Bangladesh won by 2 wickets in the first match of T20 World Cup against Sri Lanka.

Today Saturday at 6:30 AM Bangladesh time, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka entered the field in the ‘D’ group game at the Grand Prairie Stadium in Dallas, USA. Tiger captain Nazmul Hossain Shanto won the toss and decided to field first.

Batting first, Sri Lanka scored 124 runs for 9 wickets in the allotted 20 overs. In response, Bangladesh lost 8 wickets and reached the port of victory with one over in hand.

Touhid Hriday scored the maximum run with the bat for Bangladesh. His innings of 40 off 20 balls was studded with four sixes and a four. Apart from this, Liton Das played a patient innings of 36 runs off 38 balls. The pair of 93 runs of these two batsmen in the fourth wicket laid the foundation of Bangladesh’s victory. In the end, apart from Mahmudullah’s unbeaten 16 off 13 balls, no other batsman could take his personal collection to double figures.

Nuwan Thushara and captain Wanindu Hasaranga took maximum two wickets each for Sri Lanka.

Earlier, the Bangladeshi bowlers put up an outstanding display of controlled bowling in the first innings. Taskin-Mustafizra gave only four extra runs in twenty overs. Only two of these were wide.

Mostafiz took three wickets for the team by spending only 17 runs in the four overs. Rishad took three wickets for 22 runs. Besides, Taskin returned from injury and took two wickets.
