The British High Commissioner to Bangladesh, Sarah Cooke, paid a courtesy visit to Jamaat-e-Islami's Ameer, Dr. Shafiqur Rahman, at the party's Boshundhara office in Dhaka on Sunday morning.
During the meeting, which took place in a warm and friendly atmosphere, the two discussed the upcoming national parliamentary elections in Bangladesh, as well as the country's development, progress, and bilateral relations with the UK.
The British High Commissioner was accompanied by Deputy High Commissioner James Goldmann, Political Head Tim Duckett, and Deputy Secretary (Political) Kate Ward. Jamaat-e-Islami's Ameer was joined by Assistant Secretary General and Chief of the Central Publicity and Media Department, Advocate Ehsan-ul-Mabub Jubaier, Central Executive Council member M. Mubar Hussain, and Foreign Affairs Advisor to the Ameer, Professor Dr. Mahmudul Hassan.
Both parties expressed optimism about strengthening ties between the UK and Bangladesh in the future.
