At a campaign rally of the 11-party alliance held in Badda on Sunday, Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman announced that if the alliance wins the 13th national parliamentary election, Nahid Islam—candidate for the Dhaka-11 constituency and convener of the NCP—will be appointed as a minister. Addressing young supporters, he urged them to prepare to take responsibility for the nation’s future, expressing confidence that leaders like Nahid Islam would guide Bangladesh toward the right destination with integrity and commitment, while senior leaders would support them from behind. He criticized past leadership for lacking honesty, accountability, and resistance to corruption, which he said had held the country back, and emphasized that Bangladesh’s progress cannot be stopped because its people are hardworking and talented. Dr. Rahman pledged that his party would safeguard the rights, lives, property, and dignity of all citizens across the country, stressing that they seek to serve the people rather than rule over them. He promised not to make unrealistic commitments and vowed to fulfill their responsibilities with sincerity, faith, and sacrifice, calling on everyone to unite in building a just, humane, and oppression-free Bangladesh based on fairness and accountability.
