Mamata’s Congratulations to Tarique, Uses the Term ‘Brother’

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has congratulated the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) and its Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman for securing an absolute majority in Bangladesh’s 13th parliamentary election.

 

In a post shared on social media platform X at around 1:00 pm local time on Friday (February 13), Banerjee extended her best wishes. She wrote that she congratulates “my brother Tarique, his party, and all others involved” on the significant victory, and wished happiness and well-being for everyone. She also expressed hope that strong and friendly relations between Bangladesh and India would continue in the future.

 

Earlier, India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi also congratulated Tarique Rahman through a post on X. Modi praised Rahman for leading the BNP to what he described as a major electoral success in Bangladesh’s parliamentary elections.

 

In his message, Modi stated that the victory reflects the trust and confidence the people of Bangladesh have placed in Rahman’s leadership. He further assured that India would continue to support a democratic, progressive, and inclusive Bangladesh under the new government.

 

The Indian Prime Minister added that he looks forward to working together to strengthen the multifaceted relationship between the two countries and to advance their shared development goals.
