The Ameer of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, Dr. Shafiqur Rahman, has said that the time has come to reclaim what he described as the people’s lost rights and to work together in building the nation.

In a Facebook post published on Monday (February 16), he wrote that the country now stands at a critical turning point. Referring to the events of July, he said the nation is waiting to see how a new phase of parliamentary politics begins from this moment.

Addressing citizens directly, he congratulated voters for taking part in the election process.

The 13th National Parliamentary Election concluded recently, and the elected members of parliament are scheduled to take their oath on Tuesday (February 17) in the morning. Later in the day, the swearing-in ceremony of the new cabinet will take place.

Following the February 12 election, the Election Commission published the official gazette confirming 297 elected members.

According to constitutional provisions, in the absence of the Speaker and Deputy Speaker, the Chief Election Commissioner is authorized to administer the oath to the newly elected lawmakers. This procedure is expected to be applied for the first time in this instance.
