Dr. Shafiqur Rahman, the Ameer of Jamaat-e-Islami, has stated that he does not support delaying the elections. He believes any such delay would make it difficult for the government to manage the country's situation. Jamaat emphasizes the need for reforms before the elections. Regarding the organization's role in 1971, Dr. Rahman mentioned that then-Ameer Ghulam Azam had already sought forgiveness, questioning why apologies should be repeated. Jamaat supports democratic principles and welcomes all parties to participate in the elections. However, the issue of banning the Awami League is a governmental matter. Jamaat aspires to maintain a balanced and equal friendship with India.
