Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman has stated that oppression and persecution have not ended even in the changing landscape of Bangladesh. He claimed that political leaders are still unjustly imprisoned.
Speaking at a roadside gathering in Vedarganj, Shariatpur, on Monday morning, he asserted that Jamaat leader Azharul Islam remains incarcerated as a victim of persecution by the ruling party. He warned that if Azharul Islam is not released soon, he would demand his own imprisonment in protest.
The gathering was presided over by district Nayeb-e-Ameer K.M. Mokbul Hossain, with the presence of central assistant secretary general A.H.M. Hamidur Rahman Azad, district Ameer Principal Muhammad Abdur Rob Hashemi, and Bangladesh Labor Welfare Federation treasurer Muhammad Azharul Islam, along with other party leaders.
