On Thursday, May 1st, during a labor rally organized by the Bangladesh Labour Welfare Federation at Purana Paltan in Dhaka on the occasion of International Workers’ Day, Dr. Shafiqur Rahman, Ameer of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, stated that sustainable development in Bangladesh is not possible without improving the relationship between workers and employers. He emphasized that around 70% of the country's population belongs to the working class, and ignoring their rights would hinder national progress. Dr. Rahman also noted that an Islamic system of governance can help ensure the rights of workers and end the inhumane conditions many laborers face. He added that if Jamaat comes to power, it will guarantee a fully safe workplace environment for women.
