At a rally held on Friday (May 2) near the south gate of Baitul Mukarram, Dr. Tasnim Zara, Senior Joint Member Secretary of the National Citizens' Party (NCP), declared that no discussion about the Awami League’s participation in elections should take place in Bangladesh without ensuring justice. She criticized the ruling party, accusing it of orchestrating years of enforced disappearances and killings, stating that countless daughters still don’t know whether their fathers are alive or dead. Referring to brutal incidents from July and August, she claimed thousands were maimed, blinded, or permanently disabled within days. Tasnim stressed that those involved in these alleged crimes—from Awami League and its affiliate organizations—must be held accountable before any electoral process involving them is even considered. She emphasized that the bloodshed and trauma are still fresh, with many victims still suffering in hospitals without justice or investigation. "How much more must the people of this country endure before such a party is deregistered?" she asked.
