Dr. Ali Riaz, Vice Chairman of the National Unity Commission, stated on Thursday that political parties are reaching consensus on several key aspects of the proposed state reforms. His remarks came ahead of the eleventh day of the Commission's second round of dialogue with political parties, held at the Foreign Service Academy in Dhaka.
According to the agenda, today's discussions focus on the appointment process of the Chief Justice, the caretaker government system, and provisions related to the declaration of a state of emergency.
Dr. Riaz emphasized that significant progress is being made, noting, "Consensus is emerging on many fronts. The Commission aims to finalize a July Charter through swift and inclusive consensus-building." He added that, with continued cooperation from the parties, a collective outcome can be reached soon. Since the parties' stances on these issues are already known from previous discussions, the Commission will work toward resolving any remaining disagreements.
