The National Citizens’ Party (NCP) is announcing its candidates for 125 constituencies in the first phase of the 13th National Parliamentary Election.
The names are being revealed today, Wednesday, at 11:00 am during a press conference at the NCP’s temporary office in Banglamotor, Dhaka. The announcements are being made by the party’s Secretary Akhtar Hossain.
NCP convener Nahid Islam will contest from Dhaka-11, while Akhtar Hossain will run in Rangpur-4.
Other notable candidates include Nasiruddin Patwary from Dhaka-18, Sarjis Alam from Panchagarh-1, Hasnat Abdullah from Comilla-4, Tasneem Zara from Dhaka-9, and Abdul Hannan Masud from Noakhali-6.
Before announcing the candidates, Nasiruddin Patwary, head of the NCP election management committee, said the party is entering a “ballot revolution” this year. He urged voters to cast a “yes” vote in the upcoming public referendum and instructed candidates to campaign for both the party symbol, the water lily, and the referendum simultaneously.
Tasneem Zara, Secretary of the election management committee, highlighted that the nomination process was open to all. Over 1,500 people collected nomination forms, ensuring a diverse candidate list. The final candidate roster includes some unexpected selections.
