IPL, the only cricket tournament in the world, has a rare rule called ‘Impact-Sub’. According to the rules, 12 cricketers can be played in a team. That is, if a team wants to bowl one cricketer, they can bring another cricketer to bat instead.

However, Indian cricket team captain Rohit Sharma himself cannot accept this rare rule of IPL. He expressed his anger at the rule of playing 12 players.

Speaking to Australian legend Adam Gilchrist and former England captain Michael Vaughan on a podcast called ‘Club Prairie Fire’, Rohit said, ‘I am not a fan of the impact-sub rule. It will pull back all-rounders. And at the end of the day cricket is a game of 11 players, not 12 players. You’re taking too much out of the game to make it entertaining for the people around you.’

Bringing up the issue of all-rounders, Rohit said, ‘If you really look at just the cricketing side of it…. I can give you many examples. Guys like Washington Sundar, Shivam Dube are not able to bowl. Which is not a good thing for us (Indian team).”

However, Rohit, while captaining Mumbai Indians last season, said the impact-sub rule would not harm the all-rounders. All-rounders will do their job.

However, despite criticizing the impact-sub, Rohit has no solution. The Mumbai batter said, ‘I don’t know what you can really do about it. But I am not a fan of it.
