Chris Gayle holds the record for fastest century in IPL. The Caribbean batting giant scored a 30-ball century for Royal Challengers Bangalore against Pune Warriors in 2013.
Today (Saturday) that record was put in jeopardy by Delhi Capitals opener Jack Fraser-McGurk. This 22-year-old Australian batsman played an innings of 84 runs off 27 balls today against Mumbai Indians!
McGurk scored 80 runs from the boundary in an innings of 84 runs. The right-handed batsman hit 6 sixes with 11 fours in this Tornado innings.
He was just 16 runs away from the century. The way he was playing, he could have broken Gayle's 30-ball century record if he had survived three more balls. Of course that didn't happen.
However, relying on the devastating innings of Fraser-McGurk, Delhi Capitals made a big collection of 257 runs for 4 wickets against Mumbai at home. This is Delhi's highest team collection record in IPL.
Besides, Abhishek Porel 36 off 27 balls, Shai Hope 41 off 17 balls and finally Rishabh Pant 29 off 19 balls and Tristan Stubbs were unbeaten on 48 off 25 balls.
