The UEFA Champions League group stage has concluded, and the knockout phase has begun with the excitement of the Round of 16. Europe’s top clubs have already started their first-leg battles. Here is a quick look at the head-to-head history and key statistics ahead of the matches.

Bayer Leverkusen vs Arsenal F.C.

In European competitions, Leverkusen have won four of their last five two-legged ties against English clubs. In contrast, Arsenal have lost their last five two-legged encounters with German teams, all against FC Bayern Munich.

Leverkusen have also been eliminated in the Round of 16 in their last six appearances at this stage of the Champions League.

Arsenal, however, are in excellent form this season, winning eight consecutive matches in the competition—their longest winning run in European tournaments. Among English clubs, only Manchester City F.C. have recorded a longer streak, with 10 straight wins between May 17, 2023 and March 6, 2024.

PSG have lost only once in their last eight matches against English teams. Last season they eliminated Liverpool F.C., Aston Villa F.C., and Arsenal F.C. in succession.

The Paris club are playing in the Champions League Round of 16 for the 14th straight season. In their last 58 knockout matches in European competitions, they have never had a goalless draw.

Chelsea, meanwhile, have won their last six matches against French teams and have come out on top in 13 of their last 16 knockout ties in European tournaments.

FK Bodø/Glimt vs Sporting CP

This is the first knockout meeting in European competition between a Norwegian and a Portuguese club.

Bodø/Glimt have become the first Norwegian side to win four consecutive matches in the Champions League.

They also maintain a perfect record against Portuguese clubs after defeating FC Porto and S.C. Braga in the UEFA Europa League.

Sporting CP, however, have never advanced beyond the Round of 16 in the Champions League era. Their only appearance in a European Cup quarterfinal dates back to the 1982–83 season.

Real Madrid CF vs Manchester City F.C.

The two clubs are facing each other in the knockout stage for the fifth consecutive season. In 15 meetings so far, both sides have five wins each, with the other five matches ending in draws.

Real Madrid have progressed past the Round of 16 in 13 of their last 15 attempts. However, they have failed to win their last four matches against English clubs.

Manchester City have lost just three of their last 18 matches against Spanish teams, recording 10 wins and five draws.

Meanwhile, Vinícius Júnior has scored 12 of his last 13 Champions League goals in the second half of matches.
