Bashundhara Kings’ latest addition, Sunday Emmanuel, marked his debut in style, scoring the lone goal in a 1-0 victory over Syria’s Al Karamah SC to secure a spot in the AFC Challenge League group stage.
The playoff match took place at Suheim Bin Hamad Stadium in Qatar. Emmanuel, who recently transferred from Mohammedan Sporting Club — disqualified after failing to meet AFC standards — struck the decisive goal that confirmed the Kings’ advancement.
While Al Karamah enjoyed greater ball possession and more shots on target, the Kings’ defense remained resolute throughout the match.
Fellow newcomer Cuba Mitchell, signed from Sunderland’s U-21 side, also made his first appearance, entering as a second-half substitute.
With this win, Bashundhara Kings continue their streak of representing Bangladesh in continental club football.
