Police have arrested 26 of the 57 students detained following a protest inside the Secretariat, demanding a reevaluation of their HSC and equivalent exam results. The remaining 31 were released to their families under a signed undertaking.

Shahbagh Police Station Officer-in-Charge, A.K.M. Shahabuddin Shahin, confirmed the development to Dhaka Post. According to police reports, the students entered the Secretariat on Wednesday afternoon to stage their protest. Security personnel initially asked them to leave, but when they refused, the authorities dispersed the crowd and detained 57 individuals.

OC Shahabuddin stated that 26 students have been formally arrested for causing disorder inside the Secretariat and will be presented in court today. The other 31 have been released under family custody with a written pledge.

The protest erupted as students demanded equal evaluation of results, claiming that some were unfairly given better or worse scores despite similar performances. They called for the cancellation of the current results and a reevaluation to ensure fairness for all.
