Four New Police Stations Approved; Women and Children Ministry Renamed
The National Implementation Committee on Administrative Reorganization (NICAR) has approved the establishment of four new police stations in the country. The committee also approved a proposal to rename the Ministry of Women and Children Affairs.
The 119th meeting of NICAR was held on Tuesday at the residence of Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus in Jamuna. This was the first meeting of NICAR during the caretaker government’s tenure.
A total of 11 administrative reorganization proposals were approved in the session, according to a press release from the Chief Adviser’s press wing.
The new police stations will be located in:
-
Purachal North, Gazipur District
-
Purachal South, Narayanganj District
-
Matarbari, Cox’s Bazar District
-
A new station in Raipura, Narsingdi District, formed by dividing the existing area
Additionally, Satkhira District has been upgraded from a ‘B’ to an ‘A’ class district.
The meeting also approved the restructuring of the Health Ministry by merging the “Health Services Division” and the “Health Education and Family Welfare Division” into the newly formed Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.
The Ministry of Women and Children Affairs will now be called the Ministry of Women and Children, although its English name will remain unchanged.
Under the Finance Ministry, two new administrative divisions—Revenue Policy Division and Revenue Management Division—were also approved. The Revenue Policy and Revenue Management Ordinance, 2025, has already been issued in this regard.
Furthermore, Satkhira’s promotion from a ‘B’ to an ‘A’ class district was approved, taking into account its environmental heritage, tourism potential, and economic prospects.
The meeting also sanctioned the correction of the spelling of Bhulli Police Station in Thakurgaon District.
Besides the Chief Adviser, several advisers, cabinet secretaries, the chief secretary, and 14 senior government secretaries attended the meeting.
