45 Bangladeshis returned home from Myanmar

45 Bangladeshis have returned home after their imprisonment in Myanmar. They left for Bangladesh on a ship from Sittwe, Rakhine State, on Saturday (June 8) at 5 pm.

They returned home on Sunday (June 9) morning. Most of them are residents of Cox’s Bazar, Narsingdi and Narayanganj districts.

Earlier on Saturday (June 8) afternoon, the director general of the Myanmar wing of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Md. Mainul Kabir informed this information.

He said that Myanmar Navy ship UMS Chin Duin is scheduled to reach Cox’s Bazar with 45 Bangladeshis in the morning. 134 BGP and army personnel who fled due to the conflict inside Myanmar will return by this ship.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, 45 Bangladeshis were detained by Myanmar forces at various times. Later they served different terms of imprisonment. There are residents of Cox’s Bazar, Narsingdi and Narayanganj districts.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that 45 Bangladeshis have been returned to their families as a result of persistent efforts by the Bangladesh Embassy in Yangon and the Bangladesh Consulate in Sittwe.

From April 25 to May 5, another 134 Myanmar border guards, BGP and army personnel fled and took refuge in Bangladesh. They are in BGB custody. They will return on Sunday (June 9).

Incidentally, the Bangladesh Embassy in Myanmar has played an active role in sending a total of 247 Bangladeshi citizens back to the country in the last one year, including 45 people in this phase.
