More than 38,000 Palestinians have been killed by Israel’s attacks on Gaza for more than 9 months. Gaza has been reduced to rubble by this unrelenting aggression.

UNRWA, the United Nations refugee agency in Palestine, said the situation is so dire that it could take up to 15 years to clear the rubble at the level of destruction in Gaza.

According to the report, the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) said it will take 15 years to clean up the rubble created in the Gaza Strip due to Israel’s aggression.

Citing an assessment by the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP), the agency said Monday that clearing the blocked valley would require the removal of 40 million tons of debris.

UNRWA said these debris and rubble from various infrastructures pose a serious threat to the people of the Gaza Strip, as they may contain many unexploded bombs and various hazardous materials.

The agency said more than 100 trucks would be needed to remove the debris and cost more than $500 million.

UNEP, on the other hand, said some of the rubble in Gaza is contaminated with asbestos. This toxic mineral causes lung diseases including cancer. The agency also said a large number of human remains were buried under the rubble of buildings in Gaza.

Meanwhile, Israel attacked southern and central Gaza on Monday. Last Saturday, Israeli forces attacked al-Mawasi, which was considered a ‘safe zone’. Two days after this attack, Israel attacked again.

Reuters reported that the country took this strategy to put more pressure on the Palestinian resistance movement Hamas.

Thousands of displaced Palestinians took refuge in al-Mawasi in the Gaza Strip. The place was full of tents. It was reported that 90 people were killed and at least 300 were injured in the sudden attack by Israel on Saturday. Reuters did not confirm the exact number of people killed in Monday’s attack.

Displaced people told Reuters they had no idea where they would go now amid the rubble.
