The Army Chief Declares: Military to Take Action

Army Chief General Waker-Uz-Zaman has announced that the armed forces will step in to ensure stability in the country and to assist during the upcoming national elections. Speaking at an event at Dhaka Cantonment on Tuesday, he said the army would be deployed at the appropriate time and would carry out its duties impartially in line with the constitution and the law.
The army chief issued a stern warning over propaganda being spread on social media targeting the armed forces and its members. He stated that such offenses are being recorded and legal measures will be taken against those responsible at the right time.
General Waker-Uz-Zaman noted that some individuals are spreading false information about the military to serve their own interests. He urged army personnel not to react emotionally to such provocations, but to handle situations with professionalism.
On the subject of elections, he stressed that the government is committed to ensuring free and fair polls. He directed army personnel to remain neutral and perform their responsibilities strictly according to the law.
He further said that both domestic and foreign actors are attempting to spread falsehoods online to create unrest in the country, but these efforts have failed due to the professionalism of the armed forces. He added that the people of Bangladesh are now looking to the army with trust and expectation.
